This blog was created for Dr. Naidoo's graduate course LS 521 (Materials & Services for Children) at The University of Alabama in the School of Library and Information Studies.
It is intended to be a resource for those interested in furthering a more accurate collection of American Indian/Native American literature for children. The scope of this blog was not able to accommodate the wonderful world of Native American Young Adult literature, though the resources used discuss both children's and YA literature.
Of note from Debbie Reese (Nambe Pueblo): American Indian? Or, Native American? There is no agreement among Native peoples. Both are used. It is best to be specific. Example: Instead of "Debbie Reese, a Native American," say "Debbie Reese, a Nambe Pueblo Indian woman."
